The architecture of Glasgow City is unique and highly noted for its 19th Century Victorian architecture.

In the early 20th Century Charles Rennie Mackintosh developed the ‘Glasgow Style’, which permeates throughout Glasgow’s City Centre.

Two notable architectural landmarks are the Provand's Lordship (15th Century) and the 13th-century St. Mungo's Cathedral.

Glasgow is located in the South and Central Region of Scotland and near to the beautiful and large Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park.

Transportation is available to suit all travel plans by air, rail, ferry and coach and are easy to book direct online.

Glasgow is also famed for Glasgow University, with a history of many famous alumni, people and inventors, not least James Watt who the SI unit of power, the Watt, was named after him.

The City of Glasgow is well endowed with statues of famous Glaswegians throughout, with the very tall column in George’s Square being the renowned Sir Walter Scott Monument.

Around Glasgow

Scenery and wildlife is always nearby, with its ever-changing picturesque highlands and lowlands landscapes during the weather-rich seasons. Make certain you check-out the ‘Scottish Outdoor Access Code’ before you go, in order to help keep Scotland special.

Renowned for its Whisky, Scotland ‘Spirit’ may be discovered through its many distilleries.

Loch Lomond is a short drive from Glasgow, with its breath-taking views and is very photogenic.

Between Glasgow and Edinburgh there is a popular train route and many wonderful scenic views to enjoy along the way. Because of Edinburgh’s relative close proximity and frequent transport links, it is easy to get to, and ideal as a day-trip out from Glasgow.

I produced the book “Glasgow Landscapes, A Photographic Glimpse” with ‘where to go in Glasgow’ in mind. I very much enjoyed walking the streets of Glasgow town centre and along the banks of the River Clyde. There was much to photograph and to see and do. The book forms part of my series ‘Places to Visit’ and if you are planning to visit the City of Glasgow it gives a lot of ideas for what is worth going off the beaten track to discover about its hidden secrets.

The Glaswegian weather whilst dry, during my visit, was mostly overcast with grey skies. However, this didn’t stop my pleasure and enjoyment of spotting its photogenic beauty, which I have shared with you in this photographic record of what I discovered. I found Glasgow’s architecture of particular note. Glasgow is a place of much interest and delight. The City of Glasgow is also a centre of learning giving a wide breadth of opportunities.

The book is available in several formats from Amazon and other book retailers.
