The Park was the first purposely designed park and was laid-out by Sir Joseph Paxton. Visiting Glasgow in June of 2013, had much to offer me as a traveller. It was my first time in Scotland. I was in the City of Glasgow for a professional course, which I enjoyed greatly and we were well catered for in the venue, where the course was being run. I stayed in the Glasgow Mecure City Centre Hotel, which allowed me easy access to the shops and sights, as the hotel was very central. I also stayed at the Holiday Inn near the Airport, located near to Paisley, before my return flight home. Both hotels offered high-standard accommodation and good service and high-quality food. I received a warm welcome wherever I went. It was also easy to travel to Edinburgh by train, for a sightseeing day-trip out. Most notably on my last day before returning home, I found the services of a local taxi driver to take me to the best sights around Loch Lomond. He served wonderfully as a driver and guide. The additional trips into the countryside and to Edinburgh, allowed me to take many more photographs. These journeys gave me a lot of additional photographic material, from which I will be able to create more books in my Photographic Glimpse Series, ‘Places to Visit’. Whilst producing my ‘Glasgow A Photographic Glimpse’ and ‘Glasgow Landscapes’ books, I was reminded of the uniqueness of visiting Scotland. I recall how much fun and enjoyment I had, during the time I spent there. I also became fascinated about the history of Glaswegians and Glasgow. Before going to Glasgow, a friend had advised me to ‘look-up’. I was amazed at the amount of exquisite architectural features of the City of Glasgow, which I discovered whilst there. I would likewise recommend you ‘look-up’, when you visit and explore the wonderful Scottish City of Glasgow. Felicity McCullough |
